NEW! Abyss of Pandemonium for PocketPC! The PocketPC version of Abyss of Pandemonium is coming in 2004...! There's not much time for work on this, but for the sake of nostalgia I know you all want to play Abyss of Pandemonium on your Pocket PC right this second!
I'm trying to preserve all the features of the original commercial release. You won't find a 3D shooter made for Pocket PC that comes remotely close to the quality of the original classic Quake games... not yet, anyways. The PocketPC version requires the use of Pocket Quake and includes -4 maps- that have been recompiled and tweaked from the original single player episodes of Abyss of Pandemonium for PC. Soon you can experience Classic Quake game play at it's peak on your PocketPC
UPDATE APRIL 12th 2004: I've been getting a lot of mail lately about a new FPS called Painkiller that has just come out. Evidently they have some "extremely cool" weapons, here's a few snippets from emails I got recently: "...still very much into old school Quake DM and when I played the demo I was taken right back to the old days of playing Abyss... the weapons are *really* similar" "...DM gameplay reminded me so much of Abyss of Pandemonium I had to find your page if it was still around and email you..." "...including a stake gun that impales enemies to the wall, and then I knew I had played this before..." Not having played the game I'll just say that, although we were the first to do original weapons like that in a FPS, I knew from the start we would not be the last! I just didn't think it would take 5 years for technology and other developers to catch on to the idea of a more visceral gameplay dynamic and break away from what has become the norm in terms of weapons in first person shooters. I'm going to grab a copy of Painkiller in the next few days and give a shout out to the devs myself if it rocks as hard as AoP fans say it does :)
UPDATE: April 14th - I just read that exoSyphen Studios has dropped their beta version of spvQuake, playable on smart phones - targeted for and developed on the SPV e100. It would seem that John Carmack got wind of the project and posted in the forums at exoSyphen Studios... evidently they did not follow the GNU General Public License and now have given up the mod for legal reasons. That means we won't be releasing an SPV version of Abyss :(
Download Abyss of Pandemonium for PocketPC Please note, it is not available quite yet and there will only be -4 maps- included with this version - however you can play the original Quake maps with it. You'll have to have a pretty fast Pocket PC to run Pocket Quake at decent speeds, and we suggest you copy the original and Abyss PAK files to a 256MB SD card uncompressed for faster load times and a better gaming experience. :) The Retail version of id Software's Quake is required to use the PocketPC version of Abyss of Pandemonium... and after all you should own it - it's a classic!

Moments after news of Quake's demise...
Her profanities cut through the misty air of the teleport chamber like icy blades. "FIFTY THOUSAND STRONG! HOW is it, Demon... that ONE miserable human WORM so readily overcame your armies?!" The eyes of the Demon widened, reflecting the fear that was now growing uncontrollably within it's twisted husk of a mind. "The human.. it.. had weapons of great power. We stood powerless against them!" "You are a weakling.. and a fool", Legond whispered. "Their weapons are of no concern to me... nor to the denizens of the Dark Horde!" As she spoke, the Demon fell with an echoing thump to the cobblestones, gasping for breath and writhing in a pool of it's own foul blood. "You have desecrated your order for the last time with this failure, Demon." "Your services will no longer be required." "ENFORCER! Activate the Juggernauts and assemble the guard! Release the Horde into the Abyss! Let it be known: the one who brings me the head of the upstart human scum will serve at my right hand!" As the remains of Quake's once great army assembled alongside the Dark Horde... within the bowels of the Abyss... Her merciless laughter could still be heard.
