December 22nd, 1998 - Soon is relative
Sorry for the LONG delay in updates. Life is running fast over here.
The next release will not be the last release as previously mentioned. The next release will contain everything mentioned in November 6th's update. The release after that(hopefully the last) will contain other bonuses and addons to ctfbot.
The next release should be done by the end of the year, who knows though.

November 6th, 1998 - Last release coming soon
The last release of CTFBot+ is being worked on and will be released in a couple weeks.
The last release will add the following:
-
Female player model, skins, and sounds.
-
New CTF skins for regular model.
-
Support for the DTeam Q1ctf map pak.
I'd like to receive reasonable requests from everyone for other additions. Please remember that QuakeC isn't exactly my bag so improving the AI and such isn't really foreseeable.
The original CTF Bot webpage has moved. As many of you know CTF Bot was not created by myself, but is the original work of Drew Davidson.

August 15th, 1998 - Mac version
buddhabox has "ported" CTFBot+ 2.1 to Mac Quake. Please read the CTFBot+ Mac Readme for more details.
ctfbotp-mac-081298.sit.hqx 1640 k
Work has stalled on CTFBot+. There will be an upgrade when DTeam releases their Q1-ctf map pak, but that will probably be the next and last.

July 23rd, 1998 -
The site has been somewhat redesigned. Those with smaller displays should have an easier time viewing the site. All the graphics are smaller too. The "fade" on the edges is also new.
I've fixed a couple of little bugs and added more Expert Quake features. The Expert Grappling Hook will not be included, please don't ask for it.
I forgot to add Myrkul and Publius to the Credits section on the last upgrade for Expert's Load Mod. Sorry guys. :(
Not sure when an upgrade will be available, maybe next week or something.

July 12th, 1998 - Big Problem
The server where I get my mail was sniffed out for the entire month of June. I believe someone retrieved my password and did some bad things. If you've sent me mail in the past couple of days and didn't get a response, please resend. Thank you.

July 5th, 1998 - Small problems
Here's a list of problems or bugs with the 2.0 release. All of these problems have been fixed and will be in the upgrade.
-
"Invalid Skin . ." message when in GL and you or bot pick up ring.
-
Disconnection while YCam mode leaves eyes.mdl floating.
-
Best Weapon is screwed up. It's being set one lower than what you want.
-
Start Big deathmatch option gives bot electric gun (and nothing else).
-
Name and Hostname are screwed up.

June 30th, 1998 - Almost . . .
Everything's fixed and ready to go. I just need to do some testing and then I'll release.

June 20th, 1998 - New Version Soon
I've fixed lots of little problems with the Coordinator and CTFBot+. Everything should be releasable soon.
I finally had a chance to try the Coordinator out on a Win95 box. WOW! I am really sorry. I've been developing and testing on NT, so I had no idea it was that screwed up.

June 7th, 1998 - Upgrade
There is an upgrade available on the downloads page. Just unzip it into your quake directory as before, everything unzipped will go into the ctfbot+ directory. Overwrite all files when prompted.
The upgrade fixes/adds the following items:
- GL Quake support
- League of Capture Map pak support
- All Deathmatch flag bugs fixed
- e4m6 and e4m8 waypoints added
- sv_aim (aka autoteam variable) now configurable with Ctf Bot Coordinator
- Various other fixes and enhancements
- CTFEP, LoC, All Star level paks added to client.qc level rotation
For GLQuake, you must check the temp1 flag "GL skins":

- Good News for GL users
CTFBot+ now works on GLQuake. It's not ready for a release yet, I just thought I'd tease everyone a bit. It should be ready tomorrow or so.
To get it to work, I had to eliminate team shirt colors on all bots. This only applies to GL games though, winquake, regular quake, etc, will use team shirt colors.
- Playing id Maps
There is a relatively simple way to play id maps using the Ctf Bot Coordinator. Under the menu item Maps, select id Map Modification. Select the map you want and hit Modify. The map will be put into your ctfbot+\maps directory and modified with qbsp. Select the map in the Select Maps windows, recompile and your set!

- Linux, MAC, Sparc, BSD, etc.
There is talk of a tool being developed to configure ctfbot+ for these platforms. Stay tuned.
If you have access to a pc, copy the following files from the ctfbot+ directory:
progs.dat
ctfcoord.cfg
pak2.pak
The progs.dat and ctfcoord.cfg files will be created by Ctf Bot Coordinator.
Make sure you exec the ctfcoord.cfg file. Go to the console (the '~' key), and type "exec ctfcoord.cfg", or add "+exec ctfcoord.cfg" to your command line.
- GL Quake and CTFBot+
So far I've gotten only 1 email stating CTFBot+ works with GlQuake. I've got 20 times that stating otherwise. If you've gotten it to work, please get in touch with me.
- Debug Version of Ctf Bot Coordinator
There is now a Debug Version of the Ctf Bot Coordinator avialable. If you are having any problems running the Ctf Bot Coordinator, please use this version. It will create a file named "debug.log" in your ctfbot+ directory. Please email me that file along with a description of the problem you are having.
Just unzip the contents into your ctfbot+ directory. This will not replace your existing Ctf Bot Coordinator.exe, it will add a file called Debug Coordinator.exe.

June 3rd, 1998 - Important Note
After using CTF Bot Coordinator to configure and compile ctfbot+ the first time, there is no need to use it(Coordinator) unless you want different Play Settings or want to play different maps. All you need to do is run the ctfbot.bat file which was created in your root quake directory.

June 2nd, 1998 - NEW CTFBOT!!!
It was 1 year, 2 months and 2 weeks ago that Drew Davidson released the last version of the Ctf Bot for Quake.
Some might say that a year+ is kind of a long wait, some might even have forgotten all about the old Ctf Bot. If you remember, welcome aboard, at least there are two of us. :)
This webpage is devoted to the new release of the Ctf Bot. The new release is a combination of Drew's never release 1.4 upgrade, some modifications that I have done myself and a handy little windows app to run the damned thing.
Enough rambling . . .
Head over to the download page and get it!
